Solutions for difficult products in chemical sector

The use of solid chemical products, in granules and powder, has always been one of key problems in the implementation of production processes. Irritant, toxic or noxious properties of many materials, and also their powdered state and volatility, often make the engineering and manufacturing of new systems very complex. Therefore, special attention has to be paid in the engineering of the handling, emptying and filling of big-bag, bags, drums and bins.

F.lli Sacchi, operating since 1926 in the manufacturing of conveying, dosing, mixing, storage, packaging and palletising systems for granular and powdered bulk materials in many industrial sectors, has developed several innovative and cheap solutions dedicated to chemical field, in order to reduce the operator’s exposure to powders and their dispersion in the working environment.

Bags picking, cutting and emptying. In particular, the new system SmartPick, covered by several patents, can solve the problem of the automatic depalletising, cutting and emptying of paper, plastic, raffia, jute and aluminium bags, as well as drums and boxes. An anthropomorphic robot, equipped with “Smart Grip” gripping device can pick bags in automatic sequence from more pallets placed on a roller conveyor or fixed stations, cut and empty them by "Smart Cut" device. Package is then automatically disposed, compacted and, in case, sealed. This system has been conceived to handle more products at the same time, pick bags number set by the recipe and dose them into a weighed hopper. Many configurations and software options are available and make it flexible and modular, in order to suit every production need. Thanks to SmartPick any problems about loading of reactors, mixers, extruders, driers and blenders have been resolved. By using the same system and through the automatic change of the gripping device, cutting and emptying become possible as well as drums filling and palletising of intermediate or finished products.

Emptying of big-bag containing granules and powders, even non-free-flowing ones. BBDS has been conceived to help big-bag emptying process, used when bigger quantities are required. A certified system for bag lifting and translation, up to 2000 Kg., allows to load the big-bag into the station where sliding closing devices and suction system or nitrogen flow make the area safe. Thanks to the access window on lower sleeve, that can be equipped with glove box, to the inflatable sealing device and to the safety crosspieces, it’s possible to quickly and safely do the emptying operations. In case of non-free-flowing products BBDS can be optionally equipped with self-extracting ESFP system, coupled to AIRPOWDER dense phase pneumatic conveying for powders or AIRPULS for granules.

BBCS big bag conditioning system, forming device with horizontal hydraulic pressing, has been conceived to meet the requirements when the product outflow is impossible because of non-free-flowing materials or because storage has deteriorated bag geometry to the point that load in matched pairs on truck or into a container becomes impossible.

 Cheap pneumatic conveying. As mentioned, thanks to exclusive AIRPOWDER dense phase pneumatic conveying, it’s possible to convey non-free-flowing powders up to 100 meters away by using factory compressed air. The reduced pipes diameter, the extremely low energetic consumptions and the absence of rotary valves and filters batteries at the end of line, make the system suitable for feeding of driers, calciners, reactors, bagging machines, extruders and for all those processes where a reliable feeding is required. When product feeding in automatic mode performed by standard conveying turns out to be impossible and uneconomic because of narrow spaces and inaccessibility, this system becomes necessary.

Bagging, drums filling and palletising. As mentioned, thanks to AIRPULS and AIRPOWDER, it’s possible to cover long conveying distances allowing to feed the packaging department even if it is placed hundred meters away from the production. Thanks to this feature, in recent years F.lli Sacchi has manufactured many systems for drums, bags, big-bag and boxes filling, creating centralised packaging department parted from productive process to the advantage of places optimisation, cleaning, Atex classification and logistic. Common features of these systems are the accuracy, no emissions, productivity and compliance with more strict regulations. In particular, filling systems for drums from 25 to 500 Kg, can be handled by anthropomorphic robot, which feeds empty drums, doses the product, positions the cover and palletises the final product in completely automatic mode. The system can be installed in a ventilated chamber, which could be under nitrogen flow.

The versatile and flexible SVBF bagging machines allow to process both valve bags and open mouth ones, made of aluminium, paper and polyethylene, with size and package change in few minutes.Thanks to their modularity, it’s possible to use them both in manual and automatic mode by equipping them with bag placer and automatic palletiser.
